MUNICIPAL LAW
Our firm offers broad and longstanding expertise in municipal law. We served as counsel to the Town of Collingwood from 1966 through to 1995, and subsequently for the Town of Wasaga Beach from 1997 to the present day. We also assist homeowners, ratepayer associations, and both smaller and larger developers with all aspects of intended planning and development, or their opposition to such proposals.
Our municipal law services include:
- Negotiating subdivision, development, site plan, cost-sharing, and front-ending agreements
- Working alongside professional planners to ensure streamlined and expeditious development
- Zoning and Official Plan review and advancing amendments to same
- Drafting and registration of By-laws
- Attending before Council and all Committees, including Committees of Adjustment
- Advancing Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) proceedings for both appellants and respondents
- Prosecuting and defending By-law infractions
- Preparing legal opinions on a broad spectrum of municipal affairs
- Assessing matters involving municipal liability, including the law of nuisance
- Advising on Municipal Conflict of Interest, and Freedom of Information requests
